How does it work? Easy, we split the movements into two tracks:

Upper Body Pulling meant to target gymnastic movements such as pull-ups, chest to bar, and muscle ups

Upper Body Pressing meant to target gymnastic movements such as handstand pushups (kipping and strict) and handstand walks

You choose one to be your primary track, and the other to be your secondary. Each class, athletes will spend 30-35 minutes attacking their primary weakness, and another 10-15 minutes shoring up their secondary one. The 60-min class is rounded up by a group warm-up and group trunk work to build a strong foundation for all gymnastic skills.

 

This program will have a heavy emphasis on positions and movement quality and is meant to be supplementary to your regular CrossFit classes.

 

But what about athletes of different experience and skill levels, you ask? We hear you. Regardless of your current level, L100 or L200, the Skill Series is intended to meet you where you are and put progressions in place to help you work towards your goals. Whichever track you pick, your coaches will group athletes of similar abilities together. In general, we expect groups to break down along 3 levels: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced.

1 C2B Pull-Up / 10 Pull-Ups

Advanced

10 C2B Pull-Ups / 1 Muscle Up

 

Upper Body Pressing Goals

Novice

1 Handstand Push-Up

Intermediate

1 Strict HSPU / 10 Kipping HSPU

Advanced

Handstand Walk

Every athlete in our Skill Series will get to:

  • Benchmark their abilities through a series of assessments
  • Spend ample time on drills that serve their individual goals and needs
  • Build the strength required for stability and control while moving in space
  • Receive movement analysis and real-time coach feedback
  • Gain access to the Skills Series programming track in SugarWOD to log your work and measure your progress
  • Work under the supervision of two coaches in class!
