Are you stuck in the perfection trap?
Are you going for an all-or-nothing approach and feeling frustrated with your progress?
Are you setting the highest bar possible but finding that life keeps getting in the way?
If that describes you, we want you to know that it also described many of us.
Here are 3 tips that have helped us and our clients:
- Call it out. Say it to yourself “I’m trying to be perfect with nutrition again” or “I’m going from 1 day of training to 6 days of training a week”. Awareness of the problem is the first part to change.
- Take one small step in the desired direction. Pick one thing: adding one serving of fruits or vegetables per day, making room for one additional workout class per week, etc. 10% is better than 0%. Achieve the step, consistently, then move to the next one.
- Ask for help. Sometimes you don’t know what to do. Other times, you DO KNOW what to do, but you’re just not doing it. Either way, ask for help. Go to your coach and say “hey, I’m trying this and it’s not working”. They will help you reset, identify a good next step and motivate you to achieve it.
Don’t get stuck trying to achieve perfection. Just do the next “better” thing.
