“Strength (noun): the capacity to break a chocolate bar with your bare hands into four pieces … and then eat only one piece.”
Some version of this quote is attributed Judith Viorst. We love it, it makes us laugh.
It also makes us want to eat a piece of chocolate. Ok, fine, more than one piece of chocolate.
But mostly, it makes us envision physical strength as well as mental strength. Power and self control. Muscle and willpower.
We want both.
We want to be the kind of person who back squats a personal best, then goes home to take care of the kids.
We want to be the kind of person who gets their first pull-up then goes back to work because there are deadlines and we don’t miss deadlines.
We want to be the kind of person who is not afraid to work on their weaknesses in the gym, and on their relationships outside of it. Be strong. Break the bar. Eat one piece.
