Deciding what to eat gets old. For any given meal we often do a bit of mental gymnastics before we even arrive at the table. This struggle can lead to decision fatigue and thus, poorer choices like ready made, highly processed food.

Apart from ordering from a reputable meal delivery service (my favorite is Territory), we can’t get around the fact that we absolutely have to spend at least some time in our own kitchen.

Making food at home has its pros and cons. Here are a few of the big ones:

Pros:
- Making food at home tends equal more whole, nutrient dense and less processed foods
- Food from home can save dollars
- Cooking is an admirable skill
- Making food can be an act of self-care, a way to reduce stress

Cons:
- Cooking at home takes time
- In the beginning, it can feel challenging or even overwhelming for some
- It’s not going to hit like restaurant food (because most restaurant food is created with only taste and low costs in mind - not better health)
- For the most part you have to be prepared in advance - which again takes time

Here’s the thing, we need to stop overthinking and start taking action instead.
